As lovers of the ocean, Moonen do their utmost to reduce their footprint and minimise waste on board their yachts. This involves being mindful about the systems they install and how they can better the lives of their yacht owners and the external environment. Below are a few ways they have endeavoured to achieve this.
Having a purified fresh water tap installed in the Galley and the Crew Mess significantly reduces the need for plastic water bottles on board.
To assist in reducing the cooling capacity, the extracted air from compartments is used to pre-cool incoming air during summer. To assist in reducing the heating capacity, the extracted air from compartments is used to pre-heat incoming air during winter. The heat recovery of the chillers is used to heat fresh water in the hot water circulation system.
During the naval architecture, Moonen optimised the hull form to reduce resistance through the water and consume less fuel.
The hull and superstructures of all our yachts are very well insulated. Moonen use double-glazed glass throughout Moonen’s yachts, aiding in reduced heat penetration, increased efficiency of indoor air conditioning, and enabling UV bounce back.
Moonen’s yachts are prepared for end-of-life recycling of base materials, including steel, aluminium and wood.
